We were looking for a good deck box to store assorted items floating around on our deck. We didn't want to settle for a cheap looking deck box, but neither did we feel an urge to have a heavy, wooden box built or installed in a place we would regret later. We noticed it was on sale at a price far below listed here and pulled the trigger. The box itself wasn't heavy, but we noticed that some of the boxes at the store were partly opened (packing issues apparently). I went for the box which wasn't opened and had no significant shopwear. I opened the box at home and was able to gather from the instructions what piece fit to what (no tools required) and in a few minutes was able to assemble a sturdy looking deck box. It doubles as a bench, but I have some big friends and wouldn't trust it on them, but if you're of normal size or have kids, this is sturdy enough to sit on. (I wouldn't stand on it.) The pieces fit well together with no gaps, so I'm not worried about weather getting into the contents. Overall I'm happy with this box and would encourage you to look for a model that you can take home with you to ensure that it doesn't get damaged during transport.Get more detail about Suncast DB9750 Extended Deck Box / Seat.

When not in use, we hold the top in place with a small cement block. To call this box weather resistant is a stretch even if the top fit correctly. It has three "designed in" openings where water from a storm can enter. Two are where the top hinges in back and one is in front.

This box is the right size -- but as I discovered after this purchase, there are better boxes for less out there. Get more detail about Suncast DB9750 Extended Deck Box / Seat.

I purchased this at a local farm and fleet store for less than Amazon's price and have not been disappointed. I'm able to fit our 4 patio chair cushions, 2 swing cushions, and our umbrella in here and still have a little room left for other things. The shelf inside is nice for storing smaller items. It seems like the sides didn't fully come together, but every time I go out and check for leaks it's dry. It locks pretty well to the frame so it doesn't blow open on it's own. I also appreciate the fact that my wife and I can both sit on it without any issue

Assembly difficulties of this unit Baffle me. If you can't get this, go get a 5 year old off the street to show you how to do it. Each part is marked with a BIG LETTER identifing it. Before you start - THINK. Yes, you can possibly reverse the two sides (B and C). BUT LOOK. If the letter on the part is UPSIDE DOWN, you don't have it right. DAH!!! A little common sense goes a long way here.
And yes, the unit does NOT come apart once it is put together. NO WHERE on the box does it say "Portable" or "Collapsible". If it came apart, I wouldn't want it. And after I put it together, I sat on it and was very comfortable and I weigh 284 pounds.
I will agree that the sides do not fit tight against the bottom. I was more worried about bugs getting in, so I just ran a bead of GE Silicone along the inside wall edge.
